IT HAS BEEN MY LIFE’S WORK
to cultivate a quality of presence and a way of authentically relating that is effortlessly empowering, and liberating for anyone who comes near me.
I’m doing pretty well on that front,
WITH LOTS OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
My greatest accomplishment in life so far has been co-parenting my teenage son, who I not only love, but deeply admire and enjoy spending time with.
My other, far less meaningful credentials include:
MASTERS DEGREE
in Transpersonal and Somatic Psychotherapy
UNDER AND POST-GRADUATE
Studies of Philosophy and Psychology
15 YEARS GUIDING
Rite of Passage work for youth in the wilderness
20 YEARS PRACTICE
of Chinese Martial Arts (Gong Fu, Ba Gua, and Chi Gong) and Yoga
DEEP ONGOING STUDY
into the various spiritual traditions from across the World
20 YEARS OF CONSISTENT
Awareness practice, sitting in the traditions of Rinzai Zen and Vipassana
DEEP ENGAGEMENT
With language and it’s impact on our experience and choices, most notably in my study and teaching of nonviolent communication since 2005
20 YEARS EXPERIENCE
With men’s work and 10 years leading intensive circles and retreats
PRODUCING IMMERSIVE
nonviolent communication family camps since 2004
I have endeavored to map out the multidimensional territory of what keeps us stuck and what sets us free.
I have cultivated an incredibly diverse set of Somatic and Linguistic tools to support my clients, students, and community to uncover their most authentic essence and share that courageously with the world.
It is impossible to spend time around this fire without beginning to burn brighter yourself.
I am a dynamic coach and public speaker, able to gently and humorously dismantle people’s Bullshit, deliver practical skill building tools, and facilitate experiences that bring home the power and value of connection.
With an artful combination of lucid teaching, proven experiential processes, and intuitive navigation skills I am able to meet every individual or large group I encounter right where they are, and open doors into new freedom.
Here they discover more honesty, the capacity to listen and communicate in healthier ways, greater acceptance and humor about inevitable relationship challenges, and increased confidence in creating meaningful connections across the relational landscape.

When not coaching, teaching, or facilitating,
I can be found climbing multi-pitch trad routes in Yosemite, Red Rocks, and elsewhere (usually with my son Skye and/or my dirtbag climbing buddy Tim Ogilve). A life long kook, I can also be found surfing on occasion.
My daily practice of movement includes copious amounts of CrossFit, Martial Arts, and Ecstatic Dance.
I have a lifelong love of music that is most often expressed in the company of friends with a guitar or ukulele in my hand. I have a particular love of participatory musical experiences, and a fondness for rewriting popular songs to reflect more positive, hopeful values.
Enjoy me covering one of my favourite songs ?
TESTIMONIALS
“After taking the NoBS Training I was immediately able to have a difficult conversation with one of my Leads that I probably would have never approached in the past. It was awkward, it was frustrating, but I feel much better being able to say that I had the courage to speak up and request what I needed while simply sticking to the facts. It started off rocky, but I feel that we ended in a state of understanding. I am now feeling a lot more confident in my communication skills. Your workshop helped put things in a much more practical context that provided easier steps to put into action than I have ever experienced.”
“I really got a lot out of this training, even though my group just got the condensed version. I really think this should be a mandatory thing for all of our employees. I can’t think of one person it wouldn’t benefit, because everyone struggles with communicating their needs and conflicts sometimes. I now feel a little more comfortable expressing what I need to people in my life, and I’m sure with more time and practice, I’ll become much more competent with it.”
“Thanks for spending this time with me and my team. It was definitely rough at times, but this is the kind of breakthrough that I’ve been wanting for us for the past 2 years. There are a few relationships that I’m still a little worried about, but I think now that it’s all out there, I’m feeling a lot better about us as a team. This course has been the most beneficial I’ve been a part of during my 10 years with the company.”
